WORKING INDIVIDUALLY WITH PUPILS, BASES OF ACHIEVEMENTS

related to the seminar on child labour prevention and elimination in Fieri district


As planned a seminar on child labour prevention and elimination was organised in Fieri district.
28 participants, mainly teachers from the pilot schools (Levan, Roskovec, Mbrostar and Zhupan), but also pupils and parents representatives, members of the district working group, took part actively in the seminar. Both chairmen of FSASH and SPASH, Dobrushi and Kruja, 2 representatives from education directorate, principles from all the 4 pilot schools, also took part in all sessions of the seminar.
Almost the same format was used in this seminar, as in the others, combining the theoretical explanations about international standards and national legislation with concrete work done and elaboration of the working plan for the future.
The most important session of this seminar was the one where except all the participants took part also the director of educational directorate of Fieri district, representatives from the prefecture and from the municipality, representative from the district employment office, leaders of both regional trade union councils of both confederations, KSSH and BSPSH, where was discussed concretely on the work done, results achieved and duties to be followed in these schools, but also wider in some other schools and in district level.
Heads of working groups from all the 4 schools, also teachers, pupils and parents representatives identified teachers engaged in concrete work with individual pupils, mentioning various forms of work, collaboration among all the stakeholders, difficulties and needs for good results.
15 teachers are engaged in Levani school, dealing with some 35-40 pupils, mainly from Roma community. Speaking about the results, Arqile Bitri, one of the most active teachers in this school, spoke about two special cases with pupils, Valbona and Gazmir Brucaj, as well as pupil Makeliana Selimi, dropped out some times ago, who are attending regularly the school after an individual work they have done, especially with their families and  relatives.
12 teachers engaged in this work in Roskoveci school worked seriously to identify the most important characteristics of the pupils who have dropped out or were at risk to drop out and then used special forms of individual work with them in order to turn them back in the school or prevent their dropping out. Out of 20 pupils subject of their concrete work, 7 pupils are attending regularly the school and other 13 still continue to attend frequently.
Speaking about their experience, the head of the this school’s working group, Fatmira Toska, and teachers Arjana Plaka, mentioned namely the pupils Endra Kasa, Ani Kola, Adriana Metani, Renato Spahiu etc,who are actually attending and have good results in the school. The Head of pupils’ government of this school, Benilda Baba, participating in the seminar, spoke about the role of pupils themselves working with their classmates who have dropped out or are at risk to drop out. She told the case of the pupils Adriana Metani, who was given a present from her classmates, including her among the most distinguished pupils of the class, as well the case of pupil Jashar Cepele, who was included in the theatre of the school, playing the most important role among all the others, which had a direct impact in his behaviour in attending the school after that.
The same working methods are being used also from teachers in Mbrostari school, where 10-11 teachers are monitoring more than 20 pupils, mentioning in the seminar the work they are doing with pupils Edison Xhelali, Eduard Hoxha, Xhevit Zyberi, Erxhem Shima. Artur Mece, Adelina Avduli, Silvana Xhelali and so on.
Good practices and concrete results were also mentioned from the Zhupani school representatives.
It was really impressive what the participants told in this session, also in the presence of the director of the educational directorate of Fieri district, who expressed his satisfaction being present and knowing this experience, promising his personal support and the directorate better engagement and support in the future.
