Wide activities on the occasion of World Teachers Day

Many activities were organised this year in Albania, on the occasion of 5 October, WTD. According to the FSASH and SPASH program, trade union sections in the main districts of the country, especially in Tirana, Durresi, Mati, Elbasani, Korca, Vlora, Shkodra, Fieri etc, organised special meetings in district level with participation of local trade union leaders and teachers where are held speeches on the main topic of this year WTD regarding investing in teachers and role of the trade unions in vocational training and professional development of teachers.

A national interesting activity was organised in the premises of Education Trade Unions Center in Tirana, on the occasion of this Day, where took part some 40 trade union leaders and active teachers from both education trade unions in Albania, FSASH and SPASH.
Deputy Minister of Education and Science, Mr. Halit Shamata, took also part in the meeting and greeted the participants on behalf of the Albanian Government and the Ministry of Education and Science.
He appreciated the role of  FSASH and SPASH in highliting the event of WTD and pointed out the fact the Albanian Government has declared education one of its most important priorities, planing to increase the level of investments, especially in the basic education, elementary and primary education, providing computers and other laboratories equipment, as well as supporting teachers’ qualification and post university education.

On behalf of both education trade unions, the chairmen of FSASH, Mr. Xhafer Dobrushi, spoke on the importance of this worldwide event and mentioned engagement of FSASH and SPASH in teachers social and economic interests protection, as well as in modernisation and democratisation of the education system in Albania, increasing the role of teachers in education for all, asking for more attention towards the teachers from the Albanian Government and so on.
He also spoke on the message of EI on this year WTD, as well as read the Joint Declaration of five important international institutions on Education.

Vice President of SPASH, Defrim Spahiu, as well as representatives from both education trade union sections, spoke on behalf of their members, mentioning some of the activities organized on this occasion in their schools.

A special material prepared on this occasion, including explanations on WTD, EI message and ILO, UNESCO, PNUD, UNICEF, EI Joint Message, as well as posters and other materials, were distributed to the local trade union leaders, being used as the basic materials for the activities organised in the schools.

Media, present in the National Meeting and in most of the activities, prepared the news on the events, making propaganda on the role of teachers in education system, engagement of the education trade unions, also asking for more investments and more attention from the government towards teachers and education for all children in Albania.
